Sometimes I do things on a whim, for shits and giggles… throwing my hat into the ring and then not thinking much of it. This happened recently when The Drybar sent out an email asking for real client models for their new look book coming out this August.

I honestly thought… “I’ll probably be the oldest one submitting, but I’ve got great f***ing hair”. Why not?

So I sent in a pic and they asked me to come by the West 3rd Street location. It was a busy day and I thought I’d just run in with my kids and take a polaroid. Dragging my toddler and 4 month old with me… I climbed the stairs and opened the door to see Alli (the creator of Drybar!) and the rest of her team staring back at me!

With Parker wrapped around my leg… they took some pics… and that’s all she wrote (I thought).

Two days later I found out I was chosen to be a part of the new look book team. OMG! Me?

This is another “come full circle” moment for me. It happened recently with the LCDQ Legends event, and just proves that if you keep putting yourself out there and throwing your hat into the “universal” ring… good shit comes back to you (sorry for the profanity laden post… I’m all pumped up and inspired).

Two years ago when I started this blog, one of the first interviews I did was with Alli and her architect/designer Josh, over the phone. I had reached out to her PR contact, who in turn asked Alli for the interview, who in turn obliged this newbie with an amazing chat. Since then I have followed Drybar’s meteoric rise and have of course received countless amazing blowouts (one of my faves pictured in the interview… just when I started to get my post-pregnancy groove back after Parker).

Here I am a few years later (trying to get my post-pregnancy groove back after Avery), and I’m a (small) part of the team for a day! Not only that… but I also get to taunt each and every one of my friends with my perfectly styled hair and gleefully happy face staring up at them each and every time they open that look book… MUAH HA HA HA!

Thank you Alli and the Drybar team for a fantastic day. You took a tired mom and made her feel perfectly glam and girly again. It was a nice shot in the ass (there I go swearing again).

… and I got to work with Max Wanger, who I slightly fangirled over, and who couldn’t have been more sweet and enjoyable to spend the day with. He works with just about every major blogger I know in the LA area, so the experience was not too shabby 😉 . And he didn’t bat an eye when I explained I had to sneak off to pump breast milk. Now that’s a professional (he’s a daddy too).

Here are a few behind the scenes pics from the day (without giving too much away).

Stay tuned for big look book reveal coming soon!
