My baby girl just turned one… and I couldn’t be more blown away… at just how fast time flies (even faster with two?), and at just how enthralled I am of her! Your heart really does expand bigger with each child, bigger than you ever thought possible!

I knew I wanted to do something special for her… traditional with a twist… a bit like me 😉 .

… so I decided on a tea party, spiced up with some neon accents!

It was a bit warm in LA that day (almost 80 on January 25), so we had to cool everything down with some ice (and some white wine for the ladies)…

… but we’re smooth like that…

… and Avery May was as sweet as ever (of course)!

The idea of a tea party was a bit of a full circle moment for me… I found out I was having a girl on my 40th Birthday while celebrating in New York. My girls treated me to a GORGEOUS tea party while there!

My friend Laura from Dish Wish sent over the vintage tea pots, cups and saucers, plates, serving pieces and linens. I wanted to keep them all!

My friend and all-around amazing artist Stacie Krajchir hand lettered Avery’s invitation.

The gold flatware was also from Dish Wish

I wanted a natural element to mix in with all of the daintiness… these wood pedestal stands from World Market did the trick!

The macrame table runner is from Anthropologie. I bought some neon pink yarn from Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts to weave through it for an extra pop of color and texture…

The neon cord and tags I also found at Anthropologie on sale from their holiday gift collection…

Avery’s dress inspired the neon graphic I created on the mirror using gaffers tape…

I spotted the cake topper DIY on Pinterest (of course)… here’s the direct link!

The birthday girl…

She didn’t like the cake one bit 😉 …

Some grown up “tea”… 😉

My fave teapot of the bunch!!! So pretty!!!
