I was recently approached by the team at Chairish (the BEST place to buy and sell vintage furniture and accessories… remember these leopard chairs?)… to create a style board that mixes Mid Century Modern pieces with other styles of home decor.

Challenge accepted!

Mid Century Modern design is actually one of the easiest styles to play with… because it “plays” so well with others. Clean lines, a minimal aesthetic and a modern sensibility allow it to be so, well… sensible!

Want to know what I picked and why?

Watch me play matchmaker below šŸ˜‰ .

Danish Modern Teak Dining Table: I started with thisĀ Johannes Andersen dining table because it is absolutely stunning and you just can’t go wrong with this piece as your main building block.

Floral Turkish Kilim Rug: I was asked to get a bit “crazy”, so I eschewed the ubiquitous Ben Ourain for my boho chic selection, and instead went with this floral Turkish Kilim because she’s so fun (I might actually purchase this for myself I love it so much!).

Curtis JereĀ 1975 Clouds Chandelier: Love how the shape of this Mid Century fixture mimics the flowers in the rug (well played, subtle “matches” ROCK if you can find them!).

Mid Century Ombre Bentwood Chairs: Going a little bit out on a limb here… but ombre is in, and so is rose, and AGAIN with that rug…

Linda Colletta “The Last One” Acrylic Painting: A contemporary painting in cool colors to balance out the warm tones in the rest of the board was definitely needed. Extra points for the brush strokes that match the chairs and rug (and HELLO Pantone colors of the year!).

Heath Ceramic Dinner Plates: I chose clean classic dinnerware from Heath in whiteĀ to keep things non-competitive at the table.

Gilt Banded Old-Fashioned Glasses: The brass chandelier is such a statement maker, that any other gold accents (in my opinion), should be kept to a minimum. These gold banded beautiesĀ wereĀ just the right touch.

Swirled Blue Imperial Vase: I was looking for something to round out the board, and this swirled vintage vase fit the bill because of its color, and also because the texture is interesting and ties in nicely with the art.

Thank you Chairish! I could play with your amazing pieces ALL day!
