When asked by Kelly Lee of Kelly GoLightly to participate in the Christopher Kennedy Compound Modernism Week Show House at Villa GoLightly, there was just NO WAY I could refuse!

Kelly is a dear friend of mine, the event takes place in sunny Palm Springs, and I’d be a part of a fabulous group of designers and tastemakers (separate post coming soon) ready to design our hearts out and have a great time doing it!

When first approached, Kelly asked if I’d like to design the bathroom off of the “cloffice” (closet/office). We both felt it would be the perfect amount of space for me to take on. As most of you know… I have recently moved into my own new home (you can follow the journey here), and projects at #homesweetdeesign, as well as at my other fabulous clients’ homes couldn’t take a back seat!

A “soaking room” (as it came to be called)… would suit me perfectly!

When discussing the area with Kelly and Klaus, they told me they wanted this space to be serene and soothing. Most of the house would be bright and bold, so if we could remain a bit more on the neutral side, then that was the goal.

Well this is a tall order for me (you know I love pattern and color!), and was even asked to find a solid grasscloth as a backup if we couldn’t find a pattern that was calming to the eye! GASP!

I was also personally determined to find the perfect flamingo… if you know Kelly… you KNOW she loves her flamingos (we couldn’t have a Villa GoLightly WITHOUT A FLAMINGO)! But a flamingo that wasn’t too kitchy, too pink, or too immature?

Well I found it. Cole & Son Flamingos… BINGO! Paired with this Alyse Edwards tile? Mix-Tastic!

Now for the rest of the inspo!

A show house doesn’t become a show house without amazing sponsors, and in my case, I had two amazing sponsors, as well as donations from a few of my favorite people!

As mentioned above, Alyse Edwards provided the flooring. I wanted a classic black and white that would “play” well with everyone, and I think I made this decision within a matter of minutes.

Lighting was provided by Ferguson showrooms, and we had thousands of designs to pick from. The Kelly Wearstler for Visual Comfort Strada sconces felt playful and fun, with a hint of glam, which achieved just the kind of mix I was aiming for (and has now been hash tagged as “#gloho” by myself and my cloffice cohort Natasha Miniasian).

Over the tub I had originally picked out a chandelier that was a bit more fancy-pants, but ultimately decided on something less fussy and easier on the eye. I’m actually quite obsessed with this fixture now. It’s the Thomas OBrien for Visual Comfort Eden pendant and I’m trying to figure out if I can use it somewhere in my own #homesweetdeesign!

The show stopping claw foot tub, as well as that sexy vanity came from Victoria + Albert, also through Ferguson showrooms. SWOON. The faucets are from DXV.

Wanna see?

After the “BIG” selections were made… it came down to the details to create my signature California #gloho vibe…

I brought in my own rattan settee and handbag from Wend Studio and Cult Gaia, respectively.  The pillow is from Anthropologie.

The wall dot hooks are from CB2 and were a last minute decision that I’m very happy about!

The photography was generously donated by Nicole Cohen. The pants reminded me of something Kelly would wear, and I LOVED how they picked up the pattern in the floor. It is framed in an acrylic float frame from Artifact Uprising (also donated… and another idea I might steal for my own home!).

I just HAD to have a vintage rug, and this one from Woven Abode was meant to be! I emailed Kim asking her to look for one just like the piece pictured (it had already sold), and so we were on the hunt. She emailed me a few weeks later to tell me the owner was returning it… it was too small. Hello Universe (and Kim… can I keep it?)!

Above the “throne” sits the aptly named “Bathtub Wall Art” from Anthropologie (another amazing donor), and the side table and vase I picked up from West Elm.

I found the vintage, rattan sunburst mirror on my final accessory shopping trip through Palm Springs on the final day of install, at the Anthropologie in Rancho Mirage. I didn’t know I needed her, but there she was 😉 .

And rounding things up… we have the bathroom accessories!

The basket, towels, soaps, soap stand, and even those amazing fake palm fronds are all from CB2 (they are rocking it you guys!),

The vase is from Kelly Wearstler. It’s a scene-stealer… and it should be… for this price.

The mirror… I’m sad to say (because I’ve had so many people ask for it!)… is vintage. Anthropologie was SO lovely to offer us one of theirs, but the ones we had chosen wouldn’t have arrived on time! I found this beauty at one of my favorite secret spots, BTS Thrift Store… shhhhhh!

A HUGE thank you to Kelly and Klaus for bringing me along on this journey… and to Klaus (aka Fred Baby) for the gorgeous photos you see above!

Nobody puts baby in a bathtub (corner)… unless it’s Fred Baby, and the bathtub is a custom claw foot!

I also need to thank our sponsors and donors again… we could never be this fabulous without you!

Modernism Week… I will most definitely be back!
