Last night’s episode of HGTV Design Star was one of my favorites of the season. The event space that was used is actually down the street from me, and it was fun to see the designers at some of the quirky prop shops I’ve driven by for so many years.
In honor of the challenge’s Hollywood theme… I’ve chosen three of my favorite spaces and have paired them with three red-carpet starlets that tend to steal the show. It’s a Design Star/Hollywood Starlet mashup!
I was so happy for Danielle Colding on this episode. She’s so talented and was finally able to shine again with her Art Deco lounge. I could think of none other than Blake Lively at the Savages premier to mirror her space. The geometry, the colors, and the fabulosity are perfection!
Ok, so Miranda Kerr isn’t exactly a starlet, but she’s a fashion star and that works for me! Hilary Younger drew the 80’s card, and while it could have gone horribly wrong (like so many things did in the 80’s), she rocked it out right. So does Miranda in her 80’s inspired outfit. Denim? Check. Pops of neon? Check. Girls Just Wanna Have Fuuuun…
Britany Simon did what she does best (this room was absolutely gorgeous) and created an Oscar worthy Hollywood Regency lounge. I could picture Emma Stone, in this recent red-carpet ensemble, sipping a congratulatory cocktail while draped across that black tufted sofa. A pop of color and a little sparkle go a long way baby…
