While researching this post… I found it interesting that neon stories were all ablaze… EXACTLY one year ago! I find it safe to say… then… that the neon “trend” is here to stay.
I even DARE to opine… that it has become a Spring… hell, actually a YEAR ROUND… staple!
It’s just too cheery to deny… and thankfully, the stylings have moved WAY past their 80’s inception…
While it might seem more safe to style yourself (vs. your space) with a pop of neon here and there… it’s actually just as easy in the home. Just apply the same rules. Use it sparingly, pair it with neutrals, blacks or similar flattering colors, and by all means have fun with it!
Accessories are obviously the easiest (and non-committal) way to play with this kind of color… but if you find it’s more than just a spring fling… go big, go bold, and make it a lifetime affair!
Images via Pinterest and my own camo/neon combo bottom right…
1. Neon Ampersand by Etsy shop Shopampersand. Just one bold piece in an office, on a gallery wall or even in a nursery is a singular sensation!
2. Pop a pillow on anything and you’re golden. This one is organic too! By Etsy shop Earthcadets.
3. From The Design Files… Making an entrance never looked so good…
4. Beth Arrowood, Designer of NIBA Rug Collections, shows how to make neon pillows WERK…
5. Neon AND leopard could definitely cross the line… but the piping on this pillow is just subtle enough to escape playboy bunny status.
6. This Instagram shot made a previous post… but I just couldn’t help myself to another helping. It’s an Anthropologie tablescape served up with just a sampler of neon…
7. I find this bold bed so beautiful! Surrounded by neutrals and draped in a white canopy, it makes a statement without trying too hard.
8. I couldn’t find the original source for this vintage book, but you can do your own search through thrift and used book stores for some original pieces of your own. Sprinkle a few pops of neon throughout a stack, or pile a solid neon color four to eight volumes high for something akin to an art piece.
9. It even has a POP in it’s name… The Pop Acrylic Drink Glass from Crate and Barrel. Stay stylishly thirsty my friends.
10. From one of my all-time favorite House Beautiful issues… this May 2012 shot of interior designer Christina Murphy’s work shows just how gorgeous a really gutsy green can be!
