It’s here! The final installment of our summer Brazilian adventure… and my absolute favorite spot of the entire trip… beautiful Trancoso!

Trancoso is a beach town in Bahia, Brazil… founded in the 16th Century.

The main square… shaped as a rectangle with a church set atop the hillside overlooking the ocean… is pure magic… with restaurants and shops and the resort houses of Uxua lining the sides in the original style of the village architecture.

Children are running and playing… groups are playing soccer…

… and horses are hanging out munching on grass.

At night… the square lights up and turns twinkly as people roam around and shop and eat.

… and if you are lucky enough to snag one of Uxua’s houses that border the square… (that’s our green house)…

… then you can open your windows and dutch door…

… and enjoy a front row seat!

Now let me take you inside… because what also makes Uxua so special… is that while committing to the spirit and original design of these fisherman’s cottages on the outside… they have also managed to modernize the insides while honoring local artisans and the community as a whole… and the results are stunning!

This is the living area just inside the front dutch door.

Steps lead down to the courtyard kitchen and dining table. Every night… candles would be lit while we were gone.

This is a part of the kitchen nook, with a carved wooden faucet (something that was also done in the bathrooms).

The courtyard between the “front house” and the back house, where my littles loved to hang out.

This is the view from my bedroom, which looks across the courtyard, and kitchen… and out to the second level of the “front house”.

The second level had a room full of pillows, and stained glass, and doors that opened to what felt like our own personal jungle! We had a movie night here one evening while the parents enjoyed a date 🙂 .

Even the outside of the houses had bits of magic everywhere…

These fish tiles came from the local ceramicist next door!

What I loved so much about the design of this resort… is that every piece felt completely organic to the space… with neutrals dominating…

… but ALWAYS a fun pop of color surprising you around every corner!

This is where we would eat breakfast with our friends…

… and swing over the pool in the afternoon…

… while looking for monkeys!

… but most of our days were spent here at the most perfect beach.

… accessed through a mangrove forest.

We ate too much açaí…

… and had a few too many caipirinhas from our boat bar…

… and smiled…

… a LOT.

Trancoso is one of those places where we felt nostalgic before we had even left…

… and the kiddos were asking when we could go back…

… on the day of our departure.

If you want to see even more photos and VIDEO of this amazing trip (including the one of our infamous ice cream vendor pictured above)… head to my Instagram archived stories Travel: Brazil. You can get an even better view of the house and some magical moments caught on tape!

… and if you haven’t read about Rio, Buzios, and Salvador… go back and check out those posts too… because Brazil was just AWESOME… and I want you to experience it and love it just as much as we did!

Finally… if you really want to have the trip of a lifetime, you love to bring your family on all of your adventures, and you want to book something unique… I highly recommend our friends John and Erynn from Landed Travel (they are photographed with their kiddos throughout this series). This is in no way sponsored… we paid for our trip… but I would spend every penny all over again to have the ease and attention to detail that we experienced because of them. I have attached their video below… but if you have any questions… leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you! John and Erynn… where are we going next?
